The story of Magnetypia 🌻
I’ve always loved photography and history. When I discovered that the very first permanent photograph was taken here in Burgundy, near Chalon-sur-Saône, by Nicéphore Niépce, I found it magical. That’s where the name Magnetypia comes from: the marriage between “magnet” and the suffix of early photographic processes like daguerreotypy.
The idea is beautiful: to capture memories, just as it was done almost 200 years ago, but this time on a small magnet that finds its place in our homes.
Today, we take thousands of photos, but most remain hidden in our phones. With Magnetypia, I want to help these images finally come out to become real everyday memories — those we see every day, show to children, and share with the people we love.
Why I started this small business
I am the mother of a toddler, and it's the most beautiful adventure of my life. I wanted to find a way to be with him during these precious early years, while also creating something meaningful for myself.
So I launched Magnetypia: a handmade workshop where each magnet is carefully crafted here in Burgundy. This work allows me to combine my passion for photography, my love for lasting objects, and my desire to be present for my son.
For me, children are not just another chapter in life.
They are the heart, the love, and the profound meaning of existence. I simply do what feels right for my family, day after day.
Every magnet I make carries a piece of that intention: to transform a beautiful moment into something tangible, something gentle, something that lasts.
